Moss Agate Gemstone

Imagine blue cheese set in stone, and you are  picturing  the  visual  appearance  of  this gem.  It has an almost plant-style appearance  to it, detailed with colourful speckles due to the presence of chrome or iron.

This opaque gemstone is normally tumbled or cabochon cut and as it will normally have a large  carat weight, it is ideal for setting in big-look  necklaces and bracelets.

Moss  Agate  is  a  member  of  the  Chalcedony  group  of  gems,  who  in  turn  belong  to  the  Cryptocrystalline family of Quartz.  It is rarely  set in jewellery and is popular with both mineral  and gem collectors alike.
